Royal Throne

I am back this week to share a fun project featuring the Royal Thrones stamp set. I am a planner girl so I created a double sided magnetic page maker.

20190128_100339

on the first side I stamped out one of the members of the royal family.

20190128_100440

leaving about ¾ of an inch and remembering to flip the direction I stamped out the throne image.

Using my score board I scored about a ½ of an inch above the Throne Image. Next fold and crease the score line.

20190128_101236

using my zig makers I colored in both images. Next I backed the whole piece onto black card stock to make it more durable since it will be moved through out my planner and then I used my scissors to partially cut out each image. To finish off the the edges I used a black memento maker to hide the white core of the paper.

20190128_114151

To add the magnets to the back I added double sided tape to each magnet and line them up, making sure one was + and one was – . To keep them in place and make them blend into the background I punched out two small circles from black card stock and added them on top with liquid glue.

20190128_104842

Once the glue is dry your page maker is ready to add to any planner, notebook or book.

here is a little bonus project! I used Royal throne and the retired Cute Dragons stamp sets from kindred stamps.

20190111_222108

I stamped out and masked the throne onto a card stock panel then created a blended background with distress oxide ink in faded blue jeans and distress ink in black soot.

20190128_114040

The crown was borrowed from one of the characters from the Royal Throne set I just fussy cut it out.

20190128_113757

The cute dragon took a bit of masking since I wanted him to be sitting and looking forward. I first stamped out both onto full back post it notes, then I trimmed out the head I wanted and then the body I wanted. A misti stamping tool is very helpful when trying to mix and match to stamps. I stamped the head first making sure to only ink up that part of the stamp and mask off the body. Remove the body mask and place the head mask down and line up the body stamp. Ink up only the body part this time and stamp down. I used a Copic safe pen to fix any gaps in the image.

I colored all of my images with my Copic makers and then fussy cut out the dragon and crown.

20190115_115712

I stamped out the Greeting in black versafine ink and added the stamped panel to a black top folding A2 card base. I glued the crown to the dragon and popped them up on foam dots.

20190128_114123

for the inside I added a white card stock panel and stamped “it’s a Boy” which I found in a very old baby stamp set that’s in my stash.

I hope you liked these projects if you recreate any of them tag me on social media @TheCraftBean I would love to see your recreations.

For my first project I created Sweetart candy heart valentines. Side Note: buy extras because you will end up eating at least one box while crafting

20190120_015947

I started by measuring my candy box which is 1 ¾ inches x 3 5/8 inches x ¾ inches, I cut my card stock to 5 ½ x 3 ¼ and my pattern paper to 5 ½ x 3 both pieces were scored on the 5 ½ inch side at ½ , 2 ¼ , 3 and 4 ¾. Fold and crease all the score lines. The ½ inch tab is where you want to place your adhesive of choice I used ATG tape. Side Note: Each box is slightly different so you just have to work the paper a bit to get it lined up. I placed the card stock layer down first then add the pattern paper on top.

20190119_225014

Next I colored up all of the characters from the Little Town Life stamp set with my Copic markers, my full color list is below. I then fussy cut them all out. Side Note: use a water base black marker like Memento along the edges to make it look like you cut them out perfectly. To add them to my candy box valentines I used foam squares on the back of each character.

I wanted to add sentiments to my valentines but they were to long so I need to do a bit of creative stamping. Using a post it I covered up one half of the sentiment then inked it up, Before stamping down remove the post-it. You can also use the same technique to mix and match two different sentiments like I did for “ You’re my magnificent beast”

20190116_141816

For my second project I made a custom phone case.

20190119_142411

I found a clear case for my phone at The Dollar Tree. As always first I measured the inside of the phone case mine came out to 2 5/8 x 5 7/16 inches Side Note: 7/16th of an inch is just ½ inch minus 1/16th. After cutting down my Card stock I used my We R Memory Keepers corner chomper on the ¼ side. I placed the card stock in and traced around the camera area with a pencil I didn’t trim it out until the background was done so I would have a continues pattern.

20190117_220031

When I am grouping multiple images together I start by stamping all my images out on full back post it notes to make masks. This way I can play with the layout without wasting my good card stock. Once I like the layout I take a photo so I can refer to it as I am stamping.

20190117_231224

when grouping images you want to stamp front to back, I stared with the my fractured tea cup and then moved onto Mama pot and so on adding my masks onto each image before stamping the next.

I started the background by drawing in the floor which is really just a square grid. The Bookshelf is also a grind but of rectangles with an added long rectangle on the top and bottom. The books are smaller rectangles with slightly curved tops. I colored everything in with my Copic markers and added a sentiment at the bottom. I used a craft knife to trim out the camera hole and finished off all the edges with my memento black Marker.

These are the Copic colors I used on each of my images.

You Rock

This week I am sharing an encouragement card, using the Metal Friends stamp set from Kindred Stamps.

20190113_164204

I started by creating my background using the stencil from the Space Hero kit I used the star cluster and Fossilized amber distress in to create a focal point in the center. Next I randomly stamped the music notes from the You’re Purrfect stamp set and colored them in with copic markers. For my metal friend I grab a scrap of white card stock and stamped, colored and fussy cut him out.

20190109_104413

I wanted my metal friend to be able to dance so I add him onto my card with a mini action wobble.

20190113_160117

For my sentiment label I used clear versamark ink and white embossing powder on black card stock. I popped it up on foam dots and added just below my metal friend onto my card panel. Placing it just under my metal friend gives him something to “stand on” and grounds him so he not just floating on my card.

20190109_081249

I picked a yellow top folding A2 card base to match my background stenciling . To finish off the inside I stamped another sentiment from the Metal Friends stamp set with black ink. I hope you enjoyed this card! I will be back soon to share more projects with you.

We were Built to be Friends

I am so excited to be joining the Kindred Stamp Design team! Kindred Stamps has combined two of my favorite things crafting and pop culture.

20190105_151218

Today I created a Birthday card for a little boy in my kids class, using the Building Blocks stamp set.

First I created the background by repeatedly stamping one of the block images from the set.

20190105_153456

Then to create a focal image I stamped out the two block people and a sentiment on to a smaller piece of card stock. All of my stamping was done in a waterproof black ink so I could use my Zig clean color real brush makers to color everything.

20190103_134952

Each color is made up of a two markers, blended together to give my color more depth.

When coloring a rounded object you want to add the darker shade a bit away from the edge so that there is a highlight along the very edge. It’s easiest to to see this on the block boy’s head, I placed my darker shade just inside the stamp lines then using the lighter shade I blended to until I got the desired look.

20190105_153526

I added the background to a standard A2 top folding card base and I also layered my focal image onto the same red card stock. To add a bit of dimension to the card I popped the focal image up using a piece of kids craft foam. The last step was to stamp a Birthday sentiment into the inside of my card.

20190105_153557

I hope you enjoyed this card and I will be back soon to share more of my project with you all.

Bullet journaling

20190101_141851.jpgI have been bullet journaling for 2 years now and have decided to share my 2019 bullet journal. Bullet journaling has helped me achieve my goals and stay more organized.  When I started bullet journaling I was just looking for a planner to help me keep track of events, what draw me to bullet journaling was there was no fancy pages its just a notebook. I am a busy working mom of three and sometime life gets in the way of planning. It drives me crazy when I  fall off planning and end up with a bunch of blank pages in expensive pre printed planner, I would just stop using it all together. Then life would got overwhelming and I would need to plan again to help me get refocused. Bullet journaling gives me the flexibly I need and so much more. The 1st year I kept it simple I used it for monthly spreads, brain dumps and lots of list. What I loved was all of my notes and ideas were in one place. The next year I branched out adding goal settings spreads, journaling, project ideas and weekly/daily spreads and started to decorate my pages. I am a card maker and scrapbooker so I have a stash of stamps and embellishments, I started adding stamping, stickers and washi tape to my spreads. My bullet journal is now apart of my everyday life. Once i a while I fall off but I just pick up where I left off. Today is the start of a new year and my 3rd bullet journal and I want to share my January setup.20190101_14165920190101_14170920190101_141718.jpg

For January I kept my spreads clean and simple. I jazzed up my spreads with some very cute stickers. These sticker I got in my mystery stamp box from Kindred Stamps. I’m a huge nerd and love adding pop culture stickers and stamps to my bullet journal. I hope you all have an amazing new year. I’ll be back soon to share more art, papercrafting and bullet journaling.
